Renaming Cluster nodes

Login to server
NodeA to be renamed as Node1
NodeB to be renamed as Node2

To Begin : ALL RESOURCES SHOULD BE MOVED TO ONE OF THE NODES
1. Click Start – Run – Cluadmin.exe - Type "." - Enter
2. Confirm all the resources are on one of the node, if that’s not the case migrate resources to NodeA in this way all the resources should be at NodeA.
Continue with the Evict process for NodeB :

To evict a node from the cluster
1.Close all applications on the node that is to be removed.
2.Open Cluster Administrator.
3.Review the failover policies of the resource groups on the node to be evicted.
4 Move all groups from the node to be evicted to the other node in the cluster.
5.Select the node to be evicted.
6.Stop the Cluster service. That is, on the File menu, click Stop Cluster Service.
7.On the File menu in Cluster Administrator, click Evict Node.
After these Steps the server NodeB is no longer member of the Cluster.

Proceed to rename server NodeB to Node2
1. Right-Click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
3 Select Computer Name
4 Click on Change
5 At the Computer Name space type Node2
This will require a user account with the rights to manage NodeB computer object in order to rename it.
7. Proceed with the requested reboot to complete the rename.
Confirm that the Computer Name has changed on Active Directory and it’s located at the proper OU

Adding Node2 to the Cluster
1 On NodeA Click Start – Run – Cluadmin.exe - Type "." – Enter
2 Right click on the Cluster name – Select New – Node
3 At the Node name type the server name Node2. – Enter
4 Analysis begin – requesting Cluster service account password DOMAIN\serviceaccount
5 Type in the Password – Enter - Analysis continues.
6 Confirm there is no errors at the analysis check.
7 Click Next – Finish

Confirm the node Node2 has been added.
Test : : ALL RESOURCES SHOULD BE MOVED TO Node2.
Confirm all the groups are moved and the applications are working as expected


Repeat Steps to rename NodeA to Node1
